Back to the Future – Return of the Double A-Side
With her new single “John & Yoko / Time Machine”, Tel-Aviv based singer LEONORA takes us on a short musical and stylistic journey through time
Those were the good times, when there were real singles on the turntable. First we would listen to the A-side, then turn it over, eager to play the B-side. Would it be as good as the A-side? Or even better? And sometimes the stars gave us genuine double A-sides. And the DJs played along, sometimes playing one song, sometimes the other. Double the fun!
So it is with the LEONORA’s new single – double the fun!
Accompanied by a melody in the chorus, which could just as easily have come from the Beatles, in John & Yoko she sings of the desire for a love like that of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. A love that could be a fate. Uncompromising, total and where opposites attract.
Time Machine is the all-too familiar wish for a time machine, to start all over again. Change the future, by reshaping the past. And in the best case, this machine would look like the silver DeLorean in Back to the Future. Here the journey is accompanied by a guitar sound that would have been equally at home with Ziggy Stardust.
The new sings were produced by Leonora’s long-time companion, the multi-instrumentalist Sebastian Ruin, who single-handedly played and recorded all the instruments. The result is fresh, but also cheeky and a little quirky.
